  • Beschrijving: Beautiful orphan Agni (Aliki Vougiouklaki) lives with her young brother Petrakis (Giannakis Kalatzopoulos). Their only source of income comes from the little grocery store that their parents left them, and that is how they manage to make ends meet. A poor guitar player is in love with her, but her mind is elsewhere. Agni is a dreamer, deeply influenced by the fairytales that she reads to Petrakis, so she imagines princes and a different kind of life altogether. She meets a rich young man, Angelos (Alekos Alexandrakis), who falls in love with her and wants her to become his wife. His father, however, objects as he has already made plans for him to marry rich Lida. Agni, bitter and desperate, sees her dreams in ruins and decides to commit suicide. She poisons herself (as usually happens in fairytales) and breathes her last in the arms of her beloved - who was unable to save her.
